March 4, 2015 |While in town to promote the new Victoria's Secret swimwear line, bonafide bombshells and VS Angels Lily Aldridge and Jasmine Tookes shared on how to take a good selfie, which workouts get them photoshoot-ready, and what swimsuit trend they love.
Last week, LA was hit with a double dose of hotness when Victoria’s Secret Angels Lily Aldridge and Jasmine Tookes invaded the Sunset Marquis Hotel to host an afternoon fête in honor of the lingerie brand's new swim collection and sexy bras.
We chatted with the two beauties—who are as sweet as they are gorgeous—on all things swim, fashion, beauty, and travel. Here’s what we learned….
For Victoria’s Secret’s first-ever Swim Special, Tookes, Aldridge, and their fellow Angels spent time frolicking on the picturesque beaches of Puerto Rico. The real highlight, however, was salsa dancing with Juanes, who made a cameo in the special. “He had such a great energy about him,” Tookes says. “Everyone was salsa dancing around the room and we got to hang out with the locals; it was so much fun.” The funniest moment came when photographer Russell James pretended to hand them a "gift," which was really just a baby crab. “We screamed and ran down the beach,” Tookes laughs.
Both girls agree that Victoria’s Secret’s sporty swimsuits are the hottest this season. They say they're the right mix of athletic and sexy thanks to neon colors and mesh details.
“I love a good cut-off jean short and a crop top,” Tookes says of her go-to spring and summer outfits. For Aldridge, however, it’s all about the sarong. “I got a great sarong in Puerto Rico and I’m very excited to bust it out,” she says. “I just think [it's] great for the beach and it’s easy and effortless.”
For Tookes, it’s “a good strappy black pump.” Aldridge, on the other hand, can’t live without her Dream Angels bra.
Tookes' minimalistic beauty routine includes Cetaphil face wash and Vitamin C Serum from Oz Naturals, which helps her achieve her supermodel glow. Meanwhile, Aldridge can’t get enough of Windsor Edwards lip balm.
Tookes credits her bikini-ready body to regular weight training, squats, and sprinting, while Aldridge swears by Ballet Beautiful. “I do it about four times week,” Aldridge says. “It’s really hard, but it’s really enjoyable to do. I just feel great after I’ve done my workout—it just makes me happy.”
When Tookes isn’t enjoying her Huntington Beach hometown, she likes to shop on Sunset Boulevard, especially at H. Lorenzo. For a bite, she heads to Koi for steak.
Being a California girl at heart, Aldridge’s LA ritual includes a stop at In-N-Out Burger. “I grew up here so that’s like my comfort food,” she says. For shopping, her go-to spots include Curve, Satine, Barneys, and Reformation.
Tookes' most important selfie-taking tip is to find great lighting. Aldridge, on the other hand, said holding the phone a little bit above you at an angle does the trick.
Tookes loves to like fellow Angel Candice Swanepoel’s steady stream of gorgeous photos, The Fat Jewish’s funny ‘grams, and Into The Gloss’ beauty-focused snaps on Instagram.
Both models agree that Puerto Rico is the best place to go for a fun spring getaway. Tookes loves that there is so much to do on the island (zip-lining, horseback riding, and delicious food). Aldridge loves the hassle-free, no-passport-required traveling experience.
Tookes will be heading to Denmark to spend time with her boyfriend, though Greece is also at the top of her vacation wish list. Aldridge, on the other hand, plans to spend quality time at home with her family.
While Tookes’ number-one ritual includes sleep (“Can’t have tired eyes,” she says), Aldridge tells us her job requires her to always be photoshoot-ready, though she won’t say ever say no to a relaxing bubble bath.
