New Open-Air Food Concept, Valley Urban Market, Finds a Home in Studio City

By Christina Najjar | October 24, 2018 | Food & Drink

Foodies, head over to Studio City! Valley Urban Market, a brand-new weekly open-air culinary destination recently launched at the iconic Sportsmen’s Lodge parking lot.

Founded and co-owned by longtime friends and native Valley girls Megan Gefsky, Deborah Saly, and Jordyn Grohl, who all grew up not far from the lodge, the family-friendly destination plans to redefine Saturdays in the Valley, offering a modern and hip culinary playground with great food, comfortable seating, a DJ, a photo booth, air-brush tattooing, balloon art and more.

“The three of us were together on a girls’ trip to NYC a few years ago and had a couple meals inside one of the new food halls there. We loved how it had something for everyone – how if we wanted, we could take our kids and they could get grilled cheese or pizza and we could sit back and have some grilled lobster or modern tacos. Growing up in the Valley, and living there now as moms, it just made sense to us to bring a similar concept home,” says co-founder Deborah Saly.

Every Saturday from 10am-4pm, local foodies and families can head to Valley Urban Market for delicious bites from over a dozen culinary vendors, such as Lobsterdamus’ mesquite grilled lobster; authentic dumplings from Dina’s Dumplings; freshly popped Buttery Popcorn Co.; fresh omusubi from Sunny Blue; Ensaymada Project’s sweet and savory pastries from the Philippines; Madam Shugah’s specialty vegan sweet treats; fresh poke from Oki-Poki, California inspired MidEast & Mediterranean dishes from Hearth and Olive; and mobile wood fired pizzeria Urban Pie, to name a few.

“We’re so proud of our Valley roots and believe this is a great opportunity to showcase the variety of tastes and cuisines offered here, while also creating a vibe that’s welcoming to everyone with a style that is quintessential Valley.”
