Pride month is upon us and this year in Los Angeles there are some super sweet ways to celebrate. (Pun very much intended!)
Everyone’s favorite burger place, Shake Shack, has a special Pride shake and limited-edition capsule collection benefitting The Trevor Project. Wait for it, the Pride Shake is a cake batter shake topped with rainbow glitter sprinkles. It's the company's second year doing the special shake, but Shake Shack will also be debuting a limited-edition capsule collection this year. Launched on June 1, the collection consists of crop tops, classic tees, hats, socks and more. In support of their critical work in the community, Shake Shack is pledging $25,000 to The Trevor Project this June. The Trevor Project is the nation's leading organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning) young people under 25. All proceeds from the retail collection will be go toward this donation.
Chef Christina Tosi of Milk Bar is excited to be located in West Hollywood for their first official Pride and are celebrating by offering ways to give back to the community through in-store specials. On June 8, Milk Bar will also be hosting a baking class with Maebe A. Girl, the first drag queen elected to California public office. Participants will learn what it takes to make Milk Bar’s signature Birthday Cake with special Pride-themed cake décor while sipping on bubbly . Proceeds from the class will benefit The Aids Healthcare Foundation, the LA-based organization that’s the largest provider of HIV/AIDS medical care in the world. Learn more here.
Milk Bar is also doing a Pride month B’day Shake. To celebrate LA Pride weekend, Milk Bar will be donating a portion of proceeds from all B’day Shake sales to The Trevor Project. Also on Saturday, June 8 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Milk Bar will be activating The Stand: Pride Edition and handing out their signature confetti cookies. Finally on the Sunday of PRIDE, Milk Bar’s Truffles the Truck will be in West Hollywood’s LA Pride Parade with signature Milk Bar treats to celebrate.
Finally, in celebration of Pride Month, the popular plant-based restaurant by CHLOE. will partner with the Happy Hippie Foundation to offer the Pride Cupcake: a vegan confetti cupcake with vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles. Fifty percent of sales from the Pride cupcake will go to The Happy Hippie Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Miley Cyrus in 2014 to rally young people to fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBTQ youth and other vulnerable populations. The Happy Hippie Foundation provides services to help youth achieve positive outcomes in life: program areas include prevention, direct response to meet basic immediate needs, support services to build long-term well-being and public education to engage young people globally in systemic change through fundraising and awareness campaigns.
