After two long years, the wait is finally coming to an end. The seven-time, Emmy-winning hit dark comedy-drama Succession has just released its first official trailer for season three. On Oct. 17, the series will begin its nine-episode season, available for streaming on HBO Max.
The show follows the Roy family, who are owners of the media conglomerate, Waystar RoyCo. The head of the company Logan (Brian Cox) is an aging patriarch, and the show ultimately depicts family members racing to the top to gain control of the CEO position in the event he dies. Over the past two seasons, audiences has learned of Waystar's dark, hidden past, leading to a scandal that puts the Roys and their company under investigation by the FBI.

The trailer for season three picks up right where the show left off with Kendall (Jeremy Strong) desperately trying to take down his father, Logan. He’s had enough after he is almost sent to jail because his dad tapped him as the company scapegoat. In the trailer, Kendall discusses how he needs to expose Logan without implicating himself or destroying the company. The rest of the family is unsure whose side to take, with sister Shiv (Sarah Snook) being caught in the middle of this family war.
Fans are not only teeming with excitement about this new drama-filled season, but also about the new actors being added to the cast. Adrien Brody, Alexander Skarsgård and Hope Davis have joined in on all the Roy-fueled hysteria. According to Variety, Adrien Brody plays Josh Aaronson, a billionaire activist investor that is now a part of the fight for ownership of the conglomerate, while Alexander Skarsgård is acting as Lukas Matsson, a tech company founder and CEO who is friends with Roman (Kieran Culkin). Finally, Hope Davis portrays Sandi Furness, Kendall’s confidant and the daughter of Sandy Furness (Larry Pine), Logan’s rival.
Succession is about to get way more dramatic, and I can’t wait. This show is created by Jesse Armstrong and is one you have to watch. It’s filled with turns and dark humor at every corner that will keep you on your feet. If you need to refresh your memory before season three is released on Oct. 17, you can find it available for streaming on HBO Max.
