For any college student, the nearing of graduation means forthcoming change.
For Chase Behar, these big leaps and bounds looked like jumping headfirst into the music industry.
The New York native had a lifelong love for music, but it wasn’t until the final stretch of her time at Tulane University that she caught the performer bug.
Between coursework and class duties, Behar joined a band with her friends. The group quickly rallied attention from a number of impressive performances. Eventually, they came to sell out renowned New Orleans venues like Joy Theater, Zony Mash, Tipitina’s and Crawfest.
Inspired as ever, Behar has been traveling to Nashville to grow her artistry. Much of her time in Music City has been spent collaborating with the Grammy-nominated Shane Stevens whose extensive songwriting credits include penning hits for Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Carrie Underwood and Little Mix.
The duo’s work has recently paid off with the release of Behar’s debut single, “Can’t Complain.” Over an infectious, breezy beat, Behar proclaims, “Got a whole lotta sunshine coming your way… When you love your life, Then you can’t complain.”
The track makes for perfect summer listening and from verse to chorus, you can hear the influence of artists like Amy Winehouse, Jasmine Sullivan, SZA and Christina Aguilera. Through confident vocals with a soulful edge, Behar stands tall as an artist on the rise.
“I can’t wait to take you all on this crazy journey with me as I start my independent career,” she wrote on Instagram. “Stay tuned for some extremely exciting things.”
