It’s been nearly six months since we’ve heard new music from our “Truth Hurts” queen, but that drought ends today.
As part of Logitech’s new Defy Logic campaign, Lizzo officially has a follow up to “Rumours” from last August.
Called “Special,” the positive, upbeat song opens by reminding her audience how difficult it can be to live in the spotlight, especially during this age of social media. She says there are many times when she feels alone and has to deal with judgement from others.
Lizzo knows that there are many others in this world that feel the same way and reminds them that they should love themselves despite what people say.
Life may present struggles to us all in or out of the public eye, and this song inspires Lizzo’s listeners to embrace their uniqueness and remember that everyone is special in their own way.
The track is featured in a brand anthem video for the Defy Logic continuous campaign, which encourages generations to come to take pride in their individuality. Since new generations will determine the nature of the future, the campaign signifies recreating it in their own unique way.
The campaign represents Logitech’s extensive dedication to giving people as much information as they need to embody their creativity and generate change simultaneously.
Lizzo, a pop star who embraces her originality on a daily basis, helps to relay the campaign’s message of changing the world for a fresh future.
The Grammy-winning singer has racked up several top hits, like “Good as Hell.” Her authenticity, beliefs in creating her own rules and defying the past to make a better future are key ingredients to how the campaign should be portrayed.

Included in the campaign video are additional individuals who challenge the status quo and lead the way for people to make differences in the world.
Bretman Rock, a well-known digital entertainer, and Elsa Majimbo, a comedian and internet star, took part in the campaign video. Producer DJ Dave, gaming designer Danucd, NFT designer and digital creator Defaced and 15-year-old fashion designer and activist Kheris Rogers also all helped this piece come together.
Defy Logic was first introduced in Feb. 2021 with a 60-second spot in the Super Bowl and an advertising campaign issued on several channels that featured Lil Nas X. As an innovative creator, Lil Nas X relished in the spirit of defiance and other social justice activists.
