If you, like most people living on planet Earth, watched Game of Thrones, it's highly likely you're counting down the days to the premiere of prequel series House of the Dragon: The Targaryen Dynasty.
The Natural History Museum is here to help you make the time pass. In partnership with HBO Max, the Los Angeles museum is putting on a new exhibit honoring the show.
This one-of-a-kind immersive experience, running from Aug. 5 to Sept. 7, transports guests into the wondrous world of Westeros and the Targaryen dynasty where the dragons ruled alongside kings and queens.
Known for its expansive natural and cultural history collection with unparalleled displays of creativity and storytelling, L.A.’s Natural History Museum was the no-brainer choice for this collaboration with HBO Max. Throughout the 2,500-square-foot exhibit, there will be a large display of props, costumes and artifacts to bring the House of the Dragon: The Targaryen Dynasty experience to life.
Because the Natural History Museum is science-based, it has entrusted its scientists to tirelessly research and discuss the real-life creatures that may have inspired the creation of the mythical dragon.

Tickets for the event will be free with admission and for museum members. Guests can immerse themselves in the experience that features tutorials for Westeros' native language, Valyrian, view original costumes from the show and get a glimpse at series memorabilia like dragon eggs. For those looking for a photo op, a replica of a new Iron Throne will be displayed for fans to sit on and strike a powerful pose.
The HBO original ten-episode show will premiere on Aug. 21 and acts as a prequel to Game of Thrones, explaining the long history of House Targaryen. House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood” series, which was set a whopping 200 years before the grueling events that took place during Game of Thrones.
With the final episode date in 2019, fans of the ever-popular series are more than excited to welcome the prequel and experience the thrill of the Game of Thrones franchise again.
