Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, producer-director Greg Berlanti and Universal Studio Group chairman Pearlena Igbokwe will chair the 16th annual Motion Picture and Television Fund's Evening Before the Emmys party in Los Angeles.
The 2022 event marks Berlanti and Jacksons first time hosting the event, thanks to them recently joining the MPTF’s Board of Governors. Jackson is also set to give a performance, in addition to other special guests.
“After joining the Board of MPTF, I couldn’t wait to get involved. I'm excited to Co-Chair this iconic Emmy event with Pearlena and Greg. The Evening Before is an incredible night for the industry and my friends and I know how to throw a party. We’re bringing the music and raising money for a great cause,” said Jackson.
“Television is truly the family in which I grew up in this industry, and I can’t think of a better place to celebrate and give back than one of the most joyous, philanthropic parties of the year," added Berlanti.
MPTF is celebrating their 100th year of supporting retired and working members of the entertainment industry. The mission is to create safety nets of financial services, caregiving support, insurance help, crisis counseling and social services. This program also helps support the legendary Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills, known as the home to many retired TV and film stars.
The Evening Before celebration works to raise funds to help support the members of the industry and their families. This event is beneficial because society often forgets that behind the facade of a star-studded lifestyle, there are many struggles within the industry. By donating money or helping this cause, you can ensure that some of your favorite stars will have the safety nets they deserve!

“MPTF has been doing incredible work supporting members of the entertainment community for over a century,” said Igbokwe. “This year, more than ever, the word community resonates even deeper, so I’m exceptionally excited to create a special evening with Curtis and Greg that honors MPTF and the television industry.”
This year’s donations will help offset significant Covid-19 related costs that MPTF and their senior communities have incurred. Sponsors for the evening include Delta Air Lines, Penske Media Corporation, People, Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery.
