Marilyn Monroe cemented the fact that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but Kim Kardashian raised the point that maybe that honor should go to one of Monroe’s very own gowns.
Just days after making her red carpet debut with boyfriend and comedian Pete Davidon, Kardashian stunned the 2022 Met Gala in the very dress that the infamous blonde bombshell wore while singing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy. The historical piece of fashion hails from 1962, the same year the actress tragically later died.
“I had this idea to put it on and try it on. And then they came with armed guards and gloves, and I tried it on and it didn't fit me,” Kardashian revealed to Vogue livestream host La La Anthony.
In her evolution to get ready for the big night, Kardashian also traded her jet black hair for a slicked back blonde updo. She also wore diamond earrings that lived up to the dress’ high standards and a white fur coat akin to the one Monroe wore before she originally revealed the dress.
“We’ve got some fun this summer,” Anthony responded to Kardashian upon the news she’s staying blonde for the time being.
Davidson left the true wow factor to Kardashian and was appropriately sharp in a black-and-white double-breasted suit with a fluffy floran pin on his lapel.
“She didn’t let me wear my propeller hat, but it’s fine,” Davidson said.
After making a huge red carpet win, how will the couple celebrate?
“We’re eating pizza and donuts back at the hotel,” Kardashian said.
