After two years, the Academy Awards are returning to its usual home base at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood— just a stone’s throw from the infamous Walk of Fame that honors starlets of the ceremony’s past and present. Oscar Sunday will be in full force with the red carpet, a competitive list of nominees and A-list stars you won’t find at any other Hollywood event. The Academy Awards are the most important night in the industry, so we’ve rounded up all the important details so you don’t miss a single moment.
As the Super Bowl of entertainment, the Oscars are a day-to-night event. If you’re a properly committed at-home audience member, you’ll want to tune in at 3:30 p.m. PT/6:30 p.m. ET to catch the red carpet arrivals. From there, the premier event will broadcast starting at 5 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET and is expected to last three hours. You can watch both on ABC and through the network’s app and website (abc.com). You can also livestream on Hulu if you have Hulu Live.
Sure, the Oscars haven’t been at the Dolby for two years, but even more astounding is that the awards show hasn’t had a host since Jimmy Kimmel in 2018. Between potential host controversies and the pandemic, finding the right leader for film’s most important night has proven difficult. However, ABC has deemed now is the right time to try again and Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes and Amy Schumer will host the evening. "This year's show is all about uniting movie lovers,” show producer Will Packer said upon the hosting announcement in February. “It's apropos that we've lined up three of the most dynamic, hilarious women with very different comedic styles.”

Not all entertainers can make it on the coveted nominations list, but that doesn't mean they can’t make it to the show. From across entertainment, actors, musicians and athletes alike show up to take part in the esteemed ceremony. This year’s all-star lineup of Oscar presenters include Halle Bailey, Ruth E. Carter, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Kevin Costner, Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Hopkins, Samuel L. Jackson, Lily James, Daniel Kaluuya, Zoë Kravitz, Mila Kunis, Lady Gaga, John Leguizamo, Simu Liu, Rami Malek, Shawn Mendes, Lupita Nyong'o, Rosie Perez, Tyler Perry, Chris Rock, Tracee Ellis Ross, Naomi Scott, Wesley Snipes, Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Yuh-Jung Youn, Stephanie Beatriz, DJ Khaled, Jennifer Garner, H.E.R., Tiffany Haddish, Tony Hawk, Bill Murray, Elliot Page, Kelly Slater and Shaun White.
The Academy Awards may be celebrating the best films of the year, but the night also has plenty of space for great music. We’re looking forward to the winners of Best Score and Best Original Song, in addition to the killer band set to carry the show. Musical director Adam Blackstone will lead a lineup that features Blink-182’s Travis Barker, drumming icon Sheila E. and pianist Robert Glasper. The musical lineup also includes DJ D-Nice and the traditional live orchestra.
