On Nov. 13, entertainment’s biggest stars and the best behind-the-camera-talent descended upon the Avalon in Hollywood for a night of celebrating the year’s most acclaimed films.
In partnership with Los Angeles Confidential, the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards pays tribute to films released during the year, particularly those presented at prestigious film festivals like Cannes, Toronto, Venice and AFI, which just wrapped over the weekend. It’s no surprise festival darlings like the Jamie Dornan-starring Belfast and ultra-buzzy Princess Diana flick, Spencer, were among the top honorees. Hosted by comedian and Emmy-nominated Insecure actor Yvonne Orji, other winners included director Dennis Villeneuve for Dune and Maggie Gyllenhaal for The Lost Daughter.
“We are turning the spotlight around and shining it on those film professionals who work tirelessly behind the scenes and we want you to know that we see you, we appreciate you and tonight, we applaud you,” Orji said in her welcome.

Though the night was dedicated to the crews and visionaries behind the best films of the year, the night was full of A-listers whose main duties were to present the various awards. The celebrity lineup included Dornan, Awkwafina, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kirsten Dunst, Kelly Marie Tran, Regina King, Kristen Stewart, Javier Bardem, Mahershala Ali, Simon Rex, Marlee Matlin and Peter Sarsgaard.
“We do a lot of determining what the best things in art are,” Stewart said in her introduction of Larraín. “He may have convinced close to 200 devoted and obsessed cast and crew members that this movie is somehow theirs, but I think his greatness lies in his own personal and wild vision.”
