For both safety as well as sustainability reasons, the emergent electric scooter space has required a new front runner.
On the safety side, according to a study conducted at the Emergency Departments of two major Southern California hospitals, 249 patients were admitted with injuries associated with electric scooter use during a 1-year period. And on the subject of sustainability, the average scooter bike on the streets as a lifespan of only 30 days.
Given the excess wastefulness and risk present in the space, entrepreneurs Joshua and Jonathan Viner (founders of the popular dog walking app Wag) sought out to innovate a solution that would satisfy both of these pillar issues.
Inspired by the drive for happiness and to elevate society, the Viner brothers developed a sleek and spacious e-bike called Wheels that is currently on track to do one million rides by June in markets such as San Diego and Los Angeles. Wheels success’ however transcends ride volume. The more telling statistic is market share. A recent study in San Diego, for instance which conducted over 300 hours of research, saw Wheels with 41% share of rides. They also had the highest Consumer Preference of all devices on the market, beating out Bird, Lime, JUMP, Lyft Scooters, & Razor.
What makes Wheels unlike any competitor, is that offers a sturdy, familiar bike design with 14 inch wheels and a lower center of gravity. As a bonus feature, the bike also plays music via Bluetooth creating a both a safe as well as a bespoke experience.
Through the process, Wheels has invented a 2.0 form factor for the space that is clearly on a different level of safety, enjoyment, and comfort. Not only that, but the Wheels e-bikes are designed to last for more than a year and a higher case of sharability.
On the heels of delivering most trusted, easy to use dog walking app, the Viner brothers have identified a gap in the e-bike market that their Wheels is on track to buttoning up.
The product has been quickly met with enthusiasm from celebrities and tastemakers. Recently pop icon J Balvin took to Instagram to share his excitement about Wheels, garnering more than half a million likes. Wheels continues to soar to popularity in pop culture and is readily becoming a staple product in Hollywood.
