Ahead of the Dune world premiere, the film's A-list cast turned heads on the Venice Film Festival red carpet.
Always raising the bar, Zendaya showed out in a custom Balmain gown, styled by Law Roach. Created by Olivier Rousteing, the seemingly dripping nude dress was crafted from sculpturally-structured leather based off a cast model of Zendaya’s bust. She sealed her look with the Magnifica Serpenti Hypnotic Emerald necklace from Bulgari. The high jewelry item features a diamond-and-emerald-set body with a green stone centerpiece.
Dune star Timothée Chalamet arrived in a sparkling Haider Ackermann look, which was finished off with a few vintage Cariter rings and brooches on his cuffs. Just days later, Chalamet was announced as an official Friend of the House.
Cast members Rebecca Ferguson and Sharon Duncan-Brewester also stunned on the red carpet. Ferguson wore a dress from Dior’s FW21 collection. The Swedish actress stood out in the beige ruffled gown pulled together by a floral-shaped pink center with a green stem running down the front. Duncan-Brewster brought full glam to the carpet in an emerald silk, off-the-shoulder Etro gown.
The Dune premiere ended as high just as it started. According to Deadline, the film received a seven-minute standing ovation, which only ended at the request of director Denis Villeneuve.
Later at the Paris premiere, Zendaya sparkled on the red carpet in a David Koma ensemble. The long-sleeve black two piece split in the middle for an elongated midriff bordered by a glittering v-shaped trim. “We could do this all day,” Roach wrote on Instagram, to which model Gigi Hadid responded, “Wow Z babyyyyyyy let us breath.”
It is no surprise the cast of the Warner Bros. movie is going all out on the red carpet. The sci-fi epic itself has had a long journey to the screen having been delayed several times by the pandemic. Now that it has premiered at Venice, audiences are officially on track to witness it in theaters (or at home via HBO Max) starting Oct. 22.
Dune is based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert and marks the second film adaptation of the material since David Lynch’s 1984 version. The tale centers on Paul Atreides (Chalamet), a gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding. To save his family and people, he must travel to the universe’s most dangerous planet and conquer malevolent forces. Alongside Chalamet, Zendaya, Ferguson and Duncan-Brewster, it stars Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, David Dastmalchian, Javier Bardem, Charlotte Rampling and Jason Momoa.
