Collecting since... “I collected for fun in my 20s. In my late 30s, I started seriously collecting.”

How so? “I got more involved with museums by sitting on boards and visiting them frequently, learning as much as I could about modern art. I then started working with an art advisor, who helped me build a collection based on my interests. But I rarely buy what people tell me to buy—I always lead with how it makes me feel. I don’t use price as the ultimate barometer.”

What are your favorites? “A Sam Durant lightbox that says ‘Knowledge is Power’; portraits of my children by Catherine Opie; a Tracey Emin neon that says ‘Trust Yourself’; Mel Bochner’s ‘Blah, Blah, Blah,’ which makes me laugh; my Andy Warhol sunset; and an Alison Van Pelt painting with the line ‘I’d Rule’ over a portrait of Queen Elizabeth!” Collaborating on the interior design of your home was... “A true labor of love.”

What makes it so unique? “Every corner you turn, there is a new piece of art on the wall, and I’ve carefully curated their placement to tell a story.”

Splurges? “Christian Lacroix wallpaper and my closet—it’s like a piece of art in and of itself!”
