Celebrity Trainer Corey Calliet on His ‘Black Panther' Workout for Michael B. Jordan & How He Helped Khloe Kardashian Get Her ‘Revenge' Body

By Lorna Soonhee Umphrey | March 19, 2018 | Lifestyle

We sat down with Corey Calliet to chat about how he got Michael B. Jordan even buffer for his role in Black Panther, why a cheat meal is healthy, and what it's like working alongside Khloe Kardashian on E!'s Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian.

Nearly ten years ago, celebrity trainer Corey Caillet was working as a postal worker in the South. While he worked full-time, he also trained as a bodybuilder, realizing that his number one passion was fitness. When the time came, he took the leap, quit his job—with no financial guarantees—and worked to build a strong client base as a personal trainer. These days you can find him as a leading trainer on E!’s Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian, working with his celebrity clients, and much more.

When you found out you were going to be working on Black Panther, did you have any idea of the magnitude of the film?
CC: Not at all. Not even a little bit. I just looked at it as another movie I was going to do and I just know that as far as my work, I know that every time that I get ready for a movie and I want to make Michael [B. Jordan] look amazing. He needs to beat the last body that he did so that was my only concern.

Can you give us a little insight of Michael B. Jordan’s fitness regimen is?
For Black Panther, it was mostly weight lifting so it wasn’t like doing Creed. Going back to my foundation and old school lifting a lot of weights. You know, watching [your] nutrition, because if you want to grow, you have to eat a certain kind of weight. So, it was a lot of weight training, power lifting type of exercises, slight cardio, not a whole lot. I let him get a lot of cardio when it came him doing his choreography for the different fights.

What’s it like working on the show with Khloe Kardashian?
CC: That’s an amazing show. The show is so authentic. The fact that I get to work with everyday people. And I’m getting to actually spread my work across the world. People can see, not just in America, but everywhere, I get to inspire people. You know, regular everyday people, not just celebrities.

For the ladies, what is like to workout with Khloe?
CC: I’ve never actually worked out with Khloe personally. I feel like they should get me to do that after she has the baby. I think I’m the best candidate for that. But we’ll see what happens.

Do you allow yourself a cheat day or a cheat meal?
CC: Of course. I’m a human. I think it does something to your body where it tricks your metabolism from going from a plateau state to picking it up and actually speeding it up. Well, mostly not a cheat day, a cheat meal. A cheat day will mess you up, for real.

What would be your cheat meal?
CC: Honestly, like I tell everybody, I’m simple. Number one: a Big Mac from McDonald’s.

Lastly, what’s next for you?
CC: Right now I’m doing Creed 2. A couple of different projects but mostly right now just working on my merchandise and my own TV show.
