Known for their constant innovation in making handcrafted chocolate for over 70 years, Compartés is once again raising the bar on luxury chocolate with the launch of Compartés Organics. Available in eight different categories, chocolate lovers can enjoy the unmatched flavor of Compartés and a textured array of organic ingredients and wellness benefits for the first time.
After years of recipe testing from chocolate prodigy and owner Jonathan Grahm, this marks Compartés first foray into the functional food space. The release of this stellar range of completely plant-based chocolate bars is made using only certified organic, vegan ingredients and is refined-sugar free and gluten-free with no emulsifiers, no soy and only the purest of cacao in visually stunning packaging all hand-drawn and designed by Grahm.
What was the inspiration behind the vegan organic bars?
JONATHAN GRAHM: I witness my customers' daily reactions to the power of chocolate, to elevate mood and spirit. To be able to add this new element of functionality and allow benefits in every bite of this collection, I wanted to create a chocolate bar line that would not only be delicious, but nourished the body, mind, beauty, consciousness, stamina and spirit. Creating wellness-boosted chocolates is a completely new and much-welcomed take on chocolate, turning an everyday indulgence into a functional food.
Which flavor is your favorite?
JG: The Healing bar, with reishi mushrooms, matcha green tea and raspberries! It is really satisfying, flavorful and has an amazing texture. It’s really good you and delicious, a win-win! I can eat a lot of it and still feel healthy.
What was your favorite part of development?
JG: For over the past 2 years, I’ve been on a quest to understand the foods that we put into our bodies. After years of recipe tasting and developing, Compartes is so excited to finally reveal the Organics Collection! In designing the line, I wanted to create packaging that tied each bar together, in an all-encompassing collection. I utilized different color tones, shapes and constants in each of the eight different bars. Using beautiful revered animals, nature and core body parts (muscles, lips, faces), I wanted to showcase the different elements of the body that the functional superfood chocolate brings health benefits to.
What’s next for your brand?
JG: Compartes is in the midst of opening a BIG chocolate factory on La Brea this month! It’s going to be like a real-life Willy Wonka land with floor to ceiling glass windows so visitors can see the chocolate being made, as well as help to accelerate our growth exponentially with a kitchen more than 5 times the size of our current kitchen. I’ve custom designed the entire factory and am so excited to call this Compartes’ home!
