Chanel hosted a star-studded dinner in celebration of the brand's new 1932 high jewelry collection. The evening also marked the 90th anniversary of Gabrielle Chanel's first and only high jewelry collection, Bijoux De Diamants, which was inspired by celestial shapes. The viewing of the 1932 collection, inspired by the original designed by Gabrielle Chanel, featured necklaces, brooches, bracelets, rings, tiaras and more in the shapes of stars, the sun, moon and planets under a dark and moody celestial setting at the Lot at Formosa.
The collection's signature piece, the Allure Céleste necklace—featuring round-cut diamonds, an oval 55.55 carat sapphire and an 8.05 carat pear-shaped diamond as well as halos that detach to become brooches and the center could transform into a bracelet and shorter necklace—was part of the jewels on display. "I wanted to return to the essence of 1932 and to harmonize the message around three symbols: the comet, the moon, and the sun. Each heavenly body shines with its own light,” said Patrice Leguéreau, Director of the CHANEL Fine Jewelry Creation Studio of the new collection.
Guests including Marion Cotillard, Whitney Peak, Phoebe Tonkin, Karen O, Andra Day, Maggie Rogers, Alexandra Shipp, Jenna Coleman, Jurnee Smollet, Cazzie David, Kaitlyn Dever, Chloe Zhao, Gia Coppola, Harley Viera Newton, Jen Meyer, Lori Harvey, Phoebe Bridgers, Antonia Desplat, Ciara Bravo and more were treated to a three-course dinner, plus a performance by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to close out the evening.
