The one who knocks is now the one who sells. Bryan Cranston officially listed his eco-friendly dream home for about $5 million.
According to an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Cranston and his wife Robin Dearden bought the property for $2.5 million in 2013, while Cranston filmed the final season of hit TV series Breaking Bad. Situated near Santa Barbara in an unincorporated beach of Ventura County, the plot came with a modest 1940s home well past its prime. The couple transformed the estate into a 2,450-square-foot, 3-bedroom abode that's been LEED platinum certified—the highest honor offered by the U.S. Green Building Council—signaling the house as a high-energy performer in terms of sustainability.
“I believe in that Boy Scout credo of ‘Leave a campsite better than how you found it,’” Cranston is quoted. “It started even as a boy when I saw trash being thrown out. It just irked me. I would pick up trash and I remember my mother saying, ‘Don’t do that, you never know what germs could be on there.’”

The modern mansion is net-zero, meaning it produces as much electricity as it uses. Cranston helped design the home alongside his friend, designer John Turturro. It's a beautiful property boasting large windows with views of the ocean, titanium towers and accents. The walls are cool white with brown wood doorways and trimmings.
Truly a personal achievement, Cranston tells the WSJ that the decision to list was anything but easy. Between acting jobs and work on his Dos Hombres tequila brand (for which he partnered with Breaking Bad co-star Aaron Paul), Cranston is simply traveling too much to enjoy his homestead. After much thought, he decided it best to share with the world.
“There’s something lovely about creating something of tremendous pride and effort and turning it over to someone,” Cranston is quoted. “I hope a family buys it, and that their kids and grand kids all visit and jump in the ocean and learn how to surf and see the dolphins that come almost every morning and every afternoon. And that they end the day on the deck maybe with a glass of wine, looking at the sunset and reflecting on their good fortune and wishing well to others.”
