It’s that time of the year again to break out your favorite green clothing, eat some corned beef and cabbage and drink a Shamrock Shake. There are many St. Patrick’s Day traditions to enjoy, but our favorite is having a movie marathon. To get you into the holiday spirit, here are some of the best movies to watch on St. Patrick’s Day.
Nothing says “St. Patrick’s Day” quite like Disney's funny, family-friendly movie about a teenage boy who wakes up as a leprechaun one day. He must fight for a gold charm to save himself and his family from being controlled by the evil leprechaun.
Being single during any holiday can sometimes be a drag, which is why when two strangers meet, they decide to be each other's plus-ones for every holiday. With a hilarious scene on St. Patrick’s Day at an Irish pub, watch as these two strangers form a bond along their journey.
Anna (Amy Adams) follows a Celtic tradition when her boyfriend is a little too slow at popping the question that enables the woman to propose to the man only on Feb. 29. Instead of landing in Dublin where her boyfriend is, she ends up on the other side of Ireland heartstruck by an Irishman who changes everything for her.
If you’re looking for some excitement and suspense this holiday, then Leprechaun is the perfect movie for you. When a pot of gold is taken from a malicious leprechaun, he plunges into a killing rampage in his efforts to gain it back. Better yet, this movie is a series of eight films, so you can keep yourself entertained all day and night.
Taking place during the 1950s, young Eilis Lace leaves her home in Ireland and makes a new life in New York City. As Eilis finds her place in this new city she endures homesickness, which is dwindled in no time by a romantic love. Eilis has love for both of her countries, but which will she choose?
What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than with a documentary that dives into the charm of Irish pubs all over Ireland. The movie takes a look into the minds of the Irish pub owners to discover the concept behind what makes these spots so special.
Holly’s husband knew his eventual death was certain, so he planned ahead. He wrote her a string of letters to help her through this painful time and gives her and her friends the chance to explore his homeland, Ireland. This heartwarming romance depicts an honest story about love, loss and the courage it takes to pick yourself up after you have fallen.
Dr. Richard Kimble is on the hunt to find the killer that murdered his wife. Although there’s one problem— he is being accused of murdering her and is targeted in a nationwide manhunt. With one of its most gripping chase sequences at Chicago’s Saint Patrick’s Day parade, this movie will have you on your toes the entire time.
This movie encaptures all of the beauty and charm that Ireland has to offer. Two people who are meant to be together are reeled into their family’s land dispute.
Get into the groove of St. Patrick’s Day with this lighthearted musical following the events of a young boy in 1980s Dublin. Based on experiences from the director’s childhood, Conor has to switch schools and adapt to an entirely new lifestyle. On top of this, he endures troubles at home that prompt him to start a band that hopefully impresses his crush.
