From Harris Reed’s February 2022 collection, 60 Years a Queen, Lil Nas X was royal extravagance meets Vegas showgirl. Not only one of the most excellent looks of the night, but the “Industry” singer’s ensemble is made of up-cycled feathers and black sequins.
Dripping in silver, Taylor Swift arrived in a signature red lip and crystalised dress reminiscent of her gown from the infamous 2009 VMAs. You can always count on Lizzo to make a red carpet statement, and the VMAs were no different. The powerhouse singer showed up in a navy couture ensemble straight off the runway courtesy of Jean Paul Gaultier.
This look isn’t just material girl, it’s full-on cosmopolitan. Saucy Santana’s white, feather-trimmed wrap gown with hot pink lining and pearl-studded shoes was the perfect example of the “First Class” embodiment sung about by Jack Harlow and Fergie later in the evening.
Becky G’s column dress was as captivating as real-life stained glass. From Zuhair Murad’s Couture Fall 2022 collection, the black beaded gown features a tarot embroidered motif and side cutouts.
TikTok’s funniest content creator-theater performer showed up to the Video Music Awards like a true starlet in a head-to-toe sparkling red jumpsuit and a fresh blonde updo.

Alessandro Michele outfitted the Italian rock darlings in Gucci’s best goth meets glam pieces. With hints of sequins and plenty of black, Måneskin continued to channel their dark, yet fabulous energy.
Unlike award shows like the Oscars and Grammys, the MTV VMAs have their own expected dress code for the red carpet. More laid back, we still expect a bit of edge or sparkle, and Killa Kherk Cobain took that to heart by pairing a simple black tee and trousers with a white fur coat, statement shades and a unicorn chain.
