Childhood dreams do come true after all. In a culmination of all things summer and wonderful, Arclight Cinemas recently launched the summer of caramel corn! ArcLight’s signature, house-made Caramel Corn will be at the center of a 3-month summer celebration filled with culinary collaborations, a multi-sensory art installation, city-wide pop-up events and more.
ArcLight Cinemas is declaring the summer of 2019 as the “Summer of Caramel Corn.” Inspired by its famous, house-made Caramel Corn, ArcLight is innovating an age-old pastime, the movie theater and popcorn experience and hosting a season filled with delicious culinary collaborations, a large-scale art installation, city-wide pop-ups, special ArcLight Member events and more. ArcLight’s craveable Caramel Corn will be celebrated throughout L.A. like never before, bringing its favorite sweet and salty snack beyond the theater and into the city’s culinary scene.
From June 28th to September 20th, ArcLight is re-inventing its signature Caramel Corn experience by collaborating with three unique culinary brands: Boba Guys (June 28th through July 25th), McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams (July 26th through August 22nd) and Compartes Chocolatier (August 23nd through September 20th). Each brand was invited to create an exclusive recipe inspired by ArcLight’s Caramel Corn. These custom recipes will be available for a limited-time at ArcLight Cinemas venues and city-wide events over the course of each collaborator’s 4-week residency.
“We’re proud to introduce boba milk tea to the moviegoing experience for the first time ever as part of the Summer of Caramel Corn.” says Bin Chen, Boba Guys co-founder. “Partnering with ArcLight, we’re able to make boba milk tea accessible to new and wider audiences, bridging cultures one drink at a time.”
Caramel Corn is an ArcLight classic and has been a trusted moviegoing companion since 2002. To honor this nostalgic relationship and offer a new way to experience your favorite concessions snack, ArcLight has commissioned a large-scale, interactive art installation by artist Nico Fonseca. Bringing Caramel Corn’s cinematic culture to the forefront, the immersive installation will feature old film favorite motifs retold through stereoscopic 3D, odorama and lenticular animation. This multi-sensory installation will be on display at ArcLight Hollywood all summer long, inviting guests to walk through large bold graphic panels featuring cinema-inspired optical illusions and hidden scratch-and-sniff areas that smell of sweet corn, caramel’s butter notes, melting sugar and crisp saltiness.
“We are excited to celebrate one of ArcLight Cinema’s longest and most-delectable concessions traditions with the launch of Summer of Caramel Corn. Made in-house daily, our Caramel Corn has been the essential movie pairing for over 17 years. This summer, we have the opportunity, for the first time ever, to re-imagine that experience and open up new ways for the film and food community to come together and engage with our signature snack.” says Vince Szwajkowski, Chief Marketing Officer, ArcLight Cinemas and Pacific Theatres at The Decurion Corporation.
