Easy on me? More like easy on my ears. If Adele has instilled anything in the general public over the last decade and a half, it’s that she does not let us down with a new single.
The English singer-songwriter took to social media to officially kick off her new era of music. Dubbed “Easy on Me,” Adele’s new single will hit airwaves (er, airpods?) on Oct. 15. The video clip is short itself, nevermind the fact that the song snippet is a mere 13 seconds.
But 13 seconds is plenty to stir up excitement. “Easy on Me” is Adele’s first release since her smash album 25. Released in November 2015, 25 debuted at No.1, sold over 3 million copies in the first week and became the best-selling album of the year in a number of countries, including the U.S. and the U.K., where it became the fastest selling album in chart history. At the end of 2016, Billboard crowned her as Artist of the Year (for the third time) and she went on to win a number of Grammys the following February, including for Album of the Year, notoriously beating out Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
Also since her last release, Adele married and then divorced Simon Konecki, the father of her son. The two had been together for more than seven years, leaving some fans itching for the likely heartbreaking songs to come.

There has been a constant buzz about Adele’s upcoming album for the last year, but excitement really swelled at the end of September when projections of and billboards featuring “30” popped up around the world. The title of Adele’s fourth studio album has yet to be confirmed, but 30 would fall in line with the theme of previous albums, 19, 21 and 25.
What’s more in an Instagram post reflecting on turning 31 in 2019, she referenced her future album as “30.”
“30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all,” Adele wrote. “For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once.”
“30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you. Chin up eh,” she joked, which was only confirmed by the piano sounds of the “Easy on Me” teaser.
