MOCA 40th Anniversary Benefit

| May 29, 2019 | Parties

Over 700 guests (nearly half of whom were artists) gathered at a spectacularly solitary, winding table to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Museum of Contemporary Art and herald the arrival of MOCA’s new Director, Klaus Biesenbach. Guests including Mayor Eric Garcetti, Frank Gehry, Miranda July, Keanu Reeves, Sharon Stone, Gus Van Sant, and Christoph Waltz enjoyed performances by Rufus Wainwright and Patti Smith and raised over $3 million for the museum’s operations. The evening was capped with MOCA Board of Trustees President Carolyn Clark Powers’ announcement of her $10 million to permit free general admission to all museum guests.
