Hollywood Bowl Opening Night 2019

| June 18, 2019 | Parties

Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame inductee John Legend kicked off the Hollywood Bowl's 2019 season to a full house on Saturday, June 15th. Legend’s spectacular performance was accompanied by his band as well as the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA), led by Principal Conductor Thomas Wilkins. Common joined the ensemble for an encore perfomance of the Academy- and Grammy Award-winning song “Glory” from Selma, paired with the Hollywood Bowl’s spectacular fireworks show. The benefit raised more than 1.7 million dollars for Los Angeles Philharmonic’s numerous learning and community programs, which serve more than 150,000 youth, families, and teachers every year.

Catering for the evening was provided by James Beard Award winners Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne of Hollywood Bowl Food + Wine. Guests included Quincy Jones, Chrissy Teigen, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and Los Angeles County CEO Sachi Hamai.
