In an unprecedented year, AFI FEST continues onwards, transforming its 100+ screenings, tributes, educational panels, and more into a virtual event that the film industry and film enthusiasts can now experience from anywhere in the world.
Starting today, AFI FEST 2020 kicks off with the Opening Night World Premiere of “I’M YOUR WOMAN” starring Rachel Brosnahan. Other special presentations include the highly anticipated THE FATHER with Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman, and the world premiere of Errol Morris’ MY PSYCHEDELIC LOVE STORY. This year’s virtual film festival features 124 titles, 53% of which are directed by women, 39% are directed by BIPOC and 17% are directed by LBGTQ+.
In addition to its well known screening program, which spotlights both new projects from filmmaking legends as well as emerging talents in categories such as World Cinema, New Auteurs, Documentary, Cinema’s Legacy, and more, the festival also hosts the AFI Summit. The virtual Summit provides a platform for panels and conversations with leading members of the industry, such as Elevating BIPOC Filmmakers, with Ava DuVernay, and the annual favorite Indie Contenders Roundtable with stars including Riz Ahmed, Rachel Brosnahan, Winston Duke, Julia Garner, Vanessa Kirby, Elisabeth Moss, Carey Mulligan, and Andy Samberg.
This year’s reimagined virtual festival runs online Oct. 15-22. Passes and Tickets for all films and TV programs are now available at FEST.AFI.com.
