It’s really not so brutal out here for Olivia Rodrigo.
The teen pop star continues her victory lap of a year by scoring seven American Music Award nominations as a first-time honoree. Right behind her, The Weeknd earned six nods, followed by Doja Cat and Giveon with five.
Both Rodrigo and The Weeknd nabbed Artist of the Year nominations, putting them also up against Ariana Grande, BTS, Drake and Taylor Swift, who holds the record for the most AMA wins of all time. With three nominations, Swift has the chance to break this record if she wins just one category.
The American Music Awards are entirely determined by the fans. This year, for the first time ever, fans can vote on TikTok, which falls right in line with one of the ceremony’s new categories: Favorite Trending Song. Other new categories include Favorite Gospel Artist and Favorite Latin Duo or Group.

Catch the American Music Awards on Nov. 21 for a night of winners and performances at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Tickets to attend are on sale now, but the show will also be broadcast on ABC.
